Can you smell the fresh paint? The blog is still very new so bear with us while we add more content and features. Be sure to check out the ‘About‘ pages and do drop by again for updates. Happy New Year!

The details of the 4-Hour Work Week Giveaway is finally here.

We’re giving away 3 FREE copies of Tim Ferriss’ newly expanded and updated version of The 4-Hour Work Week in hardcover copy.

Some quick facts about the book:

#1 New York Time Bestseller

#1 Wall Street Journal Bestseller

#1 BusinessWeek Bestseller

Tip: You can read a sample chapter of the book here.

I know Life Liberation is a spanking new blog and most of you have probably arrived to this site for the first time. However, I recently purchased 4 copies of the book (in order to get an advanced copy of Tim’s upcoming book) and thought it would be a fantastic idea to kick start the New Year by sharing the original resource for ‘lifestyle design’ to those of you who are new to the concept or have been itching to get a copy.

—

How to Win a Copy:

The criteria for snagging your own copy of Tim Ferriss’ The 4-Hour Work Week is dead simple but requires a good deal of imagination. Simply answer the following question and post it in the comments section below.

“What is the most outrageous goal that you would like to achieve this year?”

Think BIG. Think OUTRAGEOUS! It could be to scale Mt.Everest, to travel half way across the world to a foreign country or perhaps you’d like to start a vineyard in an Italian. Let your imagination go wild.

Just make sure it is something you would personally like to achieve (even if it seems beyond your reach at this very moment) and make sure it is something real (that rules out time travel and unicorns!). This is an exercise in stretching the limits of what you believe you can achieve within the time frame of a year.

You can be as detailed about your goal as you want or you can choose to keep it brief.

Some Quick Rules

- Only 1 submission per person

- You must submit an entry via the comments section below
before the 20th of January, 2010

- You must provide a valid e-mail address (so we can contact you if you win)

- The giveaway is only for those located ‘outside’ of the US. This was decided upon in order to give the international community a chance to win. Tim Ferriss just completed his own online giveaway of the book through Facebook (600 copies) for those located within the US.

—

Valid entries are to be pooled together and 3 winners will be selected randomly (out of a hat perhaps!).

We will announce the winners on the 21st of January 2010.

“A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step” -Lao Tzu-

I have written blogs before therefore it is not unfamiliar territory. However, it took over a year for me to muster the courage to start this one. Only after a few months did it appear clear to me on what exactly I wanted to write about and how I would go about setting the site up. Even so, I still had my apprehensions.

Starting Requires Certainty

In order to start a journey, you have to figure out where you are and where you’d like to get to. It’s like making sure that a marked route map is in hand before setting off.

My head was all over the place in the planning stage of this blog as there were so many different kinds of topics I wanted to cover. I had a map alright but it was akin to a world map with 196 countries and countless destinations to choose from.

Eventually (after a LOT of procrastinating), I narrowed down to a few major key topics in writing. A few days after doing so, I randomly decided to re-read Tim Ferriss’ The 4-Hour Work Week (4HWW) which I had first picked up over a year ago and it hit me that the concept of ‘lifestyle design’ (a term coined by Tim) embodied a huge portion of what I wanted to share in this blog.

I found my destination. I found my certainty. Despite that, I was far from ready to put my first foot forward.

Starting Also Requires Uncertainty

A map is not nearly enough to get started. The thing about going on a journey or starting a new project is that you can attempt to plan everything down to a tee but when it comes to doing and being in the midst of it, you can never know for sure what will happen and whether you’ll be prepared or equipped enough to respond.

I’ve been on numerous journeys and taken up many projects to recognise this (apparently not enough) and hence spun myself into a sticky web of analysis paralysis which lasted for a good part of the year.

I devoured articles and books, listened in on webinars, seeked out like-minded individuals for inspiration, implemented and experimented with all sorts of lifestyle design concepts but it was never enough. It would have never been enough.

The uncertainty was there to stay and it was only when I recognized that I had to embrace it as part and parcel of this whole journey, did things really start to take shape.

Taking the First Step

The experience of getting Life Liberation off the ground is reflective of many of us who choose to experiment with ‘lifestyle design’ and furthermore adopt it.

Purposefully designing our lives in a way that does not comply with the social norms can be downright scary. Uncertainty is abundant to the uninformed.

Life Liberation is here to shed more light on the subject and to let the masses know that the journey is exciting and the destination unfathomably fulfilling; if only one can muster the courage to take the first step.

Let us take that step together to liberation.
